The Sega Saturn was released in North America in the year 1995, after Sega probably spent too many years trying to extend the life of the Genesis with add-ons like the Sega CD. It was a commercial flop by just about any standard, but there are still some good games on the console. Surprisingly, there’s no release in the main Sonic series, which is just about as bad as Nintendo failing to release a Mario game on one of their consoles and was likely a contributing factor in the Saturn’s failure.
I’ve harvested data from YouTube and Google searches as well as the number of Facebook likes for each game’s Wikipedia page to rank how popular the games are. The resulting table is searchable and sortable, so be sure to play around with it to look for your favorites or hidden gems you may have missed. So what are the most popular Saturn games? Not surprisingly, you’ll find some of the best Saturn titles at the top of the list, including Nights into Dreams, The Need for Speed, and The House of the Dead.
